If you are passionate about Symphysodon discus, you already know Joe; a meticulous keeper, an intentional breeder.

Over the past twenty-five years Joe's interest evolved from a pair of fish and a single tank to a full-scale business. In a facility that evolves with each new clutch of fry, breeding tanks are decor and devotional care is routine.

With a need to know all things discus and an interest in the many new strains and crosses being created in Asia, Joe has introduced new options to domestic buyers and hobbyists. His travels in Asia eventually led him to a second-generation breeder whose precise care and knowledge mirrored his own. The resulting alliance with Tan Chee Lok of Inda Discus Farm in Malasia is Enchanted

Discus. Their exclusive arrangement brings strains to the United States that began as ideas a generation ago.

Joe could not manage his business, travel to Asia and care for his charges without expert assistance. He is lifted to the heights of greatness by Ellen, his wife, partner, administrative manager and proxy water-changer.

Joe serves as president of the Capital Cichlid Association (CCA). He is past Vice President of the Potomac Valley Aquarium Society, and a representative of the Discus Study Group. In July 2001, Joe was a guest speaker at the annual convention of the American Cichlid Association in Parsippany, New Jersey.
